Mt Gibraltar Lookout, Bowral
The lookout is on your left just before you enter Bowral coming from Sydney. It has amazing views over Bowral as you'll see from the photos. There is also a small picnic area. We saw wonderful coloured birds and a trio of laughing kookaburras (which you can hear below!).

Corbett Gardens, Bowral

The flowers are beautiful, you may see colourful birds and you could enjoy a picnic there. Entrance to the Gardens is free except at tulip time in September. |

Bradman Oval, Bowral

This is a lovely centre with pools for various ages and a grassed area with trees. Entry prices are very affordable (see www.wsc.nsw.gov.au/services/swimming-pools).

Berrima
berrimavillage.com.au/ Berrima is a lovely, historic village about 10mins from Bowral. Even if you don't visit the shops and restaurants, you can still really enjoy the village and history by wandering around and having a picnic in the park. There is the old Courthouse, the oldest continuous licensed inn in Australia, the gaol built in 1866 and many other beautiful old buildings. There is a museum in the Courthouse and, at November 2016, the entrance price for 2 adults and 2 children was $20. |

Morton National Park - Fitzroy Falls

This park has some lovely walks and many of them are not very difficult. We were fortunate to be there when the waterfall was beautiful.

Cecil Hoskins Nature Reserve, Bong Bong walking track

This lovely walking/biking track is just 10 mins or so outside Bowral on Moss Vale Road towards Moss Vale.
There is the Wingecarribee River walking track - www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/things-to-do/Walking-tracks/Wingecarribee-River-walking-track - and also a track that wanders through beautiful fields. It is flat and very easy.

Joadja is the site of an old shale mine and kerosene producing operation. It's just to the west of Bowral in the area of Wombeyan Caves.This is not a free activity, but not too expensive, we thought, and, for us, well worth the visit. At November, 2016, the cost was $20 per adult and $5 per child for a guided tour in their vehicles around the site. This also includes a tour of their own distillery if you'd like to do that.

It was opened in 1928 and has a current capacity of 146,700 megalitres. It has a lovely picnic area. The road into the dam is about 5km and winding with beautiful bushland.

There is a waterfall at the abandoned mine and a waterhole (when there is enough water). There is a large picnic area nearby at Gambell's Rest.
